Celebrating Our Milestone: 15 Years

An exclusive milestone reception was hosted at RSA House on 24 April for more than 50 guests comprised of roughly a dozen exhibitors, most of the Lifetime Fellows of Reach Society (LFORS), a dozen volunteer role models, the full leadership team, and a patron of the Society.

The RSA’s Tavern Room (that got its name from Karl Marx’s drinking society) was the venue for hosting the Reach Society 15 (RS15) reception to mark the Society’s 15th year milestone.

On Thursday, 24 April the 50 plus guests filled the space as they networked with fellow stakeholders who have been playing a part in the Society’s 70 plus inspirational events for young people.

Roughly an hour into the evening, guests heard from eight speakers who were:

Mark Lomas, Head of Culture, Lloyd’s of London;

Angela Clarke, CEO, RAFFA International Development Agency;

Jonathan Bainbridge, Director of Professional Development Centre, Brunel University London;

Rachel Collier, Squadron Leader, RAF Careers Engagement Lee Xavier, Solicitor & Volunteer Role Model
Nadine Dyer, Senior Manager, Deloitte LLP
Stephan D’Abreu-Hayling, Major, British Army; and

Dr Nelda Frater, Patron & Founder, Independent Medical Faculty, IMF.

This part of the evening concluded with short thank you addresses from the two directors who also co-hosted the evening: Prof. Donald Palmer and Dr Dwain Neil OBE who also thanked Professor Sir Geoff Palmer, a patron, for urging the Society to do more to showcase the work it has been doing over 15 years.

Also present were Garfield Robinson, senior account manager, from the Voice newspaper and George Ruddock, manager from The Weekly Gleaner newspaper. The former was the project lead for the 8-page special feature about the Society that appeared in the March issue of the Voice newspaper. It is hoped that George will run an article on the Society’s achievements or impacts, and feature the directors’ outlook for the next decade or so.
