The Windrush essay competition (WEC) was inspired by Sir Kenneth Olisa, the newest patron of the Society who came on board in the spring of 2025. It is designed to encourage young people (from all backgrounds) to write an essay about the meaning or significance of the National Windrush Monument to them. The authors of essays deemed to be most outstanding are invited to recite their work at the June Windrush Day Thanksgiving Gathering, and shall be presented with an Awards by a patron from the Society. In addition, all young people who participate in the essay completion shall receive a book from the Society’s collection. More information is available via the email – [email protected]
