Public Appointment Opportunity – Ofqual Chair
Ofqual regulates qualifications and examinations in England. It ensures high standards and public confidence in the qualifications system. It is independent and reports directly to Parliament.
Honorarium – £43,400 pa
Time commitment – approx. 2 days a week.
Location – Coventry, flexible arrangements available
Length of Appointment – initially 3 years, subject to performance.
The Secretary of State is seeking to appoint a Chair who can provide strategic leadership and insight to Ofqual, working with the Ofqual Board and Ministers. They will provide support and challenge to the Chief Regulator and the executive team.
Candidates will have held senior public or private sector positions and possibly some non-executive roles and be passionate about improving standards in education. Educational and/or regulatory experience would be desirable.
The new Chair will join Ofqual at a time of significant change for qualifications and examinations. They will support Ofqual’s role as a strong and credible regulator, delivering qualifications which contribute to making a truly world-class education system.
